My duty...

I had a totally different blog planned for today but then life got real - earlier this week while riding to work, just days after his 42nd bday, the love of my life was hit by a car.  And, while he is okay.  The incident landed him in the ER, with a high radial shoulder fracture and me with a little help from Grey's Anatomy, this is where i landed:

Life is indeed the most fragile, unstable and unpredictable experience there is.   There are no signs forecasting the arrival of change.  It just shows up.  And we're tasked to feel our way through, to meet it and its effects with some sort of gusto, style - verve.

Met CP.  He's the love of my life and

one of the most honest, generous

in ways large and small, acts random or orchestrated,
  kind, thoughtful, loving

 good-to-the-bone, gorgeous,

 father, provider, supportive
human being ever.

And, when i checked in with him a couple of weeks ago about our relationship and its innards.  Here's a little snippet of our conversation :

me:"You good?"
CP: "Yup."

me: "It's still good, right...?  Right. "
CP:  "Yeah, i still consider it my duty..."

me: "huh? Whaaaat?!
CP: "Yeah, you know.
CP:  "i still consider it my du-ty....pause...(wait for it, wait for it)......
       to pleeeease the boo-ty.

Oh, reality t.v. and CP - you deliver every time:)

 I love you forever.

Until next time,
B

Peace & light

I appreciate every referral, recommendation, and rave i receive. Trust me. A girl can't hear too many compliments just like a photographer can't receive too many referrals. A large percent of my business is from referrals. It's how i met this family. They have since introduced me to other families and so it goes.

“Other things may change us, but we start and end with family”

A couple of days ago i received a sweet surprise - their final product and it looked stunning. (What say what?!) I'm so grateful... so much so, I've decided to blog my thank you.

It all started

with these two:

together they raised a family full of love and light

peace and respect.

Married to his life mate

together

they are raising their own family

full with love and laughter

peace and respect.

Because when it is all said and done

but we start and end with family”

I'll end this post with one of my favorite images from the shoot.  Enjoy!

Until Next time,

Spotlight Series: Carlisle and Gallagher

I'm so psyched!  Last year i was contracted to provide images for a company's web redesign. (Thank you, Limina.) While i can't say enough good things about the experience.  Yesterday i received an email saying their site had launched.  All images on the web site were provided by me and i couldn't be prouder of the outcome.

Here are a few of my favorites:

To whom much is given....

As long as i can remember i've been tasked to give.  First, by my mother throughout various phases of my childhood and then by myself - once the habit morphed into a belief the urging of my mother were no longer necessary.   Being the brilliant human being she was, it was made clear that time was just as important as money and emphasized the importance of giving both.

"To whom much is given much is required"

The founder of Healthy Babies Project, Delores L. Farr,
when she started this organization she did so because she believed that going into neighborhoods and homes and offering prenatal services to expectant women
and their families could reverse and even eliminate the senseless loss of life in our nation’s capital.
Her aim was  to reduce the dangerously high rates of infant mortality
and to be a bridge to building stronger family units by involving fathers in raising their children.
See that lady in red there on the right?  Regine Elie, she's the Executive Director and the reason i'm associated with the organization.
She is such a ray of sunshine who not only allows you to talk, she listens and depending on what she's heard might share a smile or shed a tear with you.
Day-in-day-out they show up to provide a much needed service because
"to whom much is given much is required".

Until next time...

United we stand

The urge to form partnerships, to link up in collaborative arrangements, is perhaps the oldest, strongest, and most fundamental force in nature.  There are no solitary, free-living creatures: every form of life is dependent on other forms.

Everyday magic

Today i had the distinct pleasure of volunteering in my son's classroom.  And, while that in itself is a blog - at this moment i want to say thank you to two of the most amazing teachers ever.  What they did today and what they do everyday is nothing short of magic.

From what we get, we can make a living;
what we give however, makes a life.

Thank you, Ms. Sloop + Mr Ango.
