It's not without irony...

It's not without irony that I'm a photographer...

In fact, my mother is the one who gave me my first camera.  I started out shooting with film,  reluctantly switched to digital and haven't looked back since.

Today is my mother's birthday - she would have been 60 years young...

It's not without irony that I'm a photographer. ..

Not one picture do i have of my mother with my children.  Not one. When I'm at a shoot i often find myself capturing images i would want my mother to have with my kids...it's why i enjoy capturing my clients hands.

It is not without irony that i am a photographer. ..

No pictures in today's blog.  Just a tribute to my mother and one of the only days i allow myself to cry until i can smile:

Until next time,

Be a mighty kindness...

"Be helpless, dumbfounded,
Unable to say yes or no.
Then a stretcher will come from grace
to gather us up.

We are too dull-eyed to see that beauty.
If we say we can, we’re lying.
If we say No, we don’t see it,
That No will behead us
And shut tight our window onto spirit.

So let us rather not be sure of anything,
Beside ourselves, and only that, so
Miraculous beings come running to help.
Crazed, lying in a zero circle, mute,
We shall be saying finally,
With tremendous eloquence, Lead us.
When we have totally surrendered to that beauty,
We shall be a mighty kindness."

Earth, Tree and Grass = A Lovely Day

During the ceremony the bride, an avid performer and musician, sang 'Lovely Day'.  I was completely unprepared for the simple emotion expressed.  No one present stood a chance, by the time she was finished, there wasn't a dry eye for miles...

Here is a glimpse into their lovely day with lyrics:
When I wake up in the morning,
 love,
and the sun light hurts my eyes...
And something without warning, love,
bears heavy on my mind.
Then I look at you
and the world's alright with me
Just one look at you
and I know it's gonna be -
A lovely day -
lovely day...
lovely day...
lovely day...
lovely day...
When the day that lies ahead of me
 seems impossible to face;
And someone else instead of me
always seems to know the way;
Then I look at you
and

the world's alright with me;
Just one look at you
 and I know it's gonna be -
A lovely day -
lovely day
lovely day...

lovely day

The earth their church,
the tree their altar,
 the grass their chairs.
 And a lovely day it was.

 Until next time.

through and through

Discovering the personality of your child is beautiful an unique gift.
Each day is filled with irreplaceable wonder and joy.
Right before your eyes their character emerges.
There are few things more powerful than:
 discovering the sound of your child's laughter;
the twinkle in their eye when they smile;
their scent becomes the breath of life from which you breathe deeply.
And the love, it's undeniable

you are forever connected;
And with each passing day your life becomes

fuller and richer as you continue the journey that began
because two people met
and fell in love.
The experience of discovering your child is a unique gift that changes you
    through and through.

Until next time,
